I already had a significant personal collection of books when, in August of 2005, I was given a large collection of SF/F books that belonged to a man
who had died in an auto accident. Those books are designated in the lists with an "R". Some time later,
word had gotten out that I was happy to take books, and another collection was given to me in early 2006. This
second collection, designated with an "F", also included a large number of older SF/F magazines, which
I have not yet indexed.
In many cases, I have parts of series but not the entire series (for example, I have all the even-numbered Sten books but none of the odd). I also have a lot of books by authors I've never heard of, so I won't know if they will end up in
my permanent collection until I've had a chance to read a few. Add on top of this a large number of duplicates as well as books I'm just not interested in, and I have several large boxes of books to give away. Over the next few months I
will be putting a list of "unwanted" books online, and anyone who is interested in one or more books can have it for the cost of
shipping and/or gas to get to my house to come pick it up. Look for a link here soon. (oh look! a link!)
I maintain a database of my books at home in mysql, with a perl-generated HTML front end. I wrote the scripts myself; if
